In the slum areas where we operate, most people have an income below $1 per day.

Almost 3 million people live in Nairobi, of whom around 2 million live in slums.

Depending on the figures which you use, Kibera is either the largest or second largest slum in the world.

Average life expectancy for Kenyans has dropped to around half of that for Americans, as a result of AIDS

In some of the places where we work more than 50% of the adults are HIV positive

One in five pregnant women in Kenya are HIV positive
